Common questions
How long does a gate motor battery last?
Usually a few years, depending on how often the gate is used and how long the power outages are. Batteries wear out like any battery, so they're not covered by the motor warranty.
Will my gate work during load shedding?
Yes. Centurion motors always run off the battery, which charges while the power is on. Very busy gates or very long outages may need a bigger battery bank or solar — we'll tell you honestly if yours does.
Should I repair or replace my old motor?
We service Centurion motors. For other brands, we replace with a Centurion motor rather than fault-finding old boards. It's usually the cheaper and more reliable option over time.
Will my old remotes work with a new motor?
Most Centurion Nova remotes will. Other brands' remotes won't pair with the new motor's receiver directly — but if your current setup has a separate receiver, we can often connect it to the new motor so you keep your remotes.
Can I open my gate from my phone?
Yes, with a small GSM module fitted to the motor. You get app control and alerts for gate-left-open, power failure and low battery, with no monthly fee.
